That's pretty interesting about the clocks drifting over time, I always figured that if you have a full charged battery then your clock would stay dead on but I guess not.

When I get a complete set up and start the MythTV section it will definitely be more of a How-To instead of a rant. I was extremely frustrated with this old box and needed to clear my head.
I've got a Haupauge WinTV PVR 350 PCI card waiting to be installed. For the price of the card tho, I didn't want to put it in a machine where a PSU could possibly be bad. Odd voltages and expensive cards don't mix.
